This profile of the City of Pitt Meadows is designed to provide detailed information regarding the most frequently asked questions about our community. It is primarily intended to assist businesses in evaluating opportunities in Pitt Meadows.

Pitt Meadows is currently enjoying industrial, commercial and residential development. The Canadian Pacific intermodal yard adjacent to Highway 7 is the site of a new business park, and the Golden Ears Business Centre on Airport Way offer a prime location for both aviation and non-aviation related industry.

Pitt Meadows residents have one of the highest median incomes in British Columbia, and the quality of local education, health and recreation services is excellent. Careful planning and fiscal management mean the City has the lowest residential property taxes of any municipality in Greater Vancouver - 25 percent lower than those in the City of Vancouver, for example. More than 85 percent of the City's land area is devoted to farmland, forest or habitat protection. This is an environment of trails, parks and mountain vistas, providing residents with a superb quality of life. It is also one of B.C.'s richest areas for agricultural production and a natural setting for tourism and film production.

Land costs in Pitt Meadows are lower than in communities to the west and south. The completion of the Golden Ears Bridge links us to Surrey and Langley making Pitt Meadows a desirable place to locate.

Local government in Pitt Meadows offers prompt, personal service to businesses. In October 2004, the City earned an A+ for service and reasonable fees and tax rates from the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties. Staff and Council work hard to contain costs and streamline processes.
