Development Services

The Development Services Division provides the following range of services:

  • Administration of the City's capital budget program
  • Infrastructure planning and records management
  • Transportation and traffic management
  • Community Planning: policy review and development
  • Administration of building and development related applications
  • Business licensing
  • Trend monitoring and data management
  • Administration and maintenance of the City's GIS system
  • Inspection/monitoring services for building construction
  • Bylaw enforcement
  • Animal Control Contract Services
  • Coordination of the City's Emergency Planning and Preparedness Program
  • Advisory Committee Support: Advisory Design Panel, Board of Variance, Agricultural Advisory Committe, Bicycle Advisory Committee, Accessibility, Safer City Initiatives

Transportation

Working closely with the Greater Vancouver Transportation Authority (Translink), Ministry of Transportation, the Gateway Project, and neighboring municipalities on regional transportation initiatives to improve goods movement and people carrying capacity of the regional transportation plan.

Natural & Built Environment

The Official Community Plan ensures growth is contained within the Urban Highland. The need for densification, infill and non-residential growth is recognized as a priority in order to protect the community's agricultural lands and natural resources.

Working to ensure the construction of a high quality built environment and diversity in housing supply to meet the needs of residents through all of their life stages.

Safe & Livable Community

Providing support and leadership, in emergency response management, to protect people, property and the environment in the event of a major emergency.

Working with our local Safe City Advisory Committee to reduce the frequency and severity of traffic accidents in Pitt Meadows.

Resource Management

Working to implement techological changes through the use of our Geographic Information System to:

  • Support decision makers at all levels with access to accurate information.
  • Maintain up-to-date information on assets and infrastructure.
  • Provide customzied mapping, analysis and report solutions/functions for non-technical users.
  • Provide access to property-related spatial data to a broader range of internal and external users.

Protect water quality by developing a backflow prevention/cross connection program and looping dead-end water lines.
