Operations and Public Works

The Operations Division is responsible for:

Operation and maintenance of the following:
- Water Utility (domestic & fire protection)
- Sanitary Sewer System
- Dyking and Drainage System
- Road Network
Providing field knowledge and advice to engineering staff and consultants on development and capital related infrastructure projects.
Managing the City's infrastructure to allow for economic and community growth.
To ensure the integrity of our asphalt roadways by implementing an effective maintenance management plan.
Coordinating recycling and solid waste contracts for the City.
Improving the efficiency of the open drainage system through the development of long range maintenance management plans and public awareness.

The Operations Division is also:

Continually monitoring and maintaining all infrastructure and working to ensure we have a reliable up-to-date infrastructure database. The implementation of a computerized infrastructure management system is a priority.
Working to develop a facilities management plan for city owned buildings.
Staff development to ensure compliance with technoloty and new legislation.
Updating/upgrading equipment replacement policy to ensure high utilization, accurate charge out rates and timely replacement if ageing equipment.
Emphasize customer service through the work order request system by responding promptly and courteously.
Managing annual maintenance, inspection and operation of city owned buildings and grounds.
