Voter Information

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO VOTE?

You are allowed to vote if you are registered as:

  • a resident elector (i.e., you live in the City of Pitt Meadows), OR
  • a non-resident property elector (i.e., you live elsewhere in BC but you own property in the City of Pitt Meadows).

You must meet ­all of the following requirements to vote:

  1. You must be 18 years of age or older on general voting day (November 19, 2011).
  2. You must be a Canadian citizen.
  3. You must have been a resident of BC for at least 6 months immediately before you register to vote.
  4. You must have been a resident of the City of Pitt Meadows for at least 30 days immediately before you register to vote (for resident electors), OR owned property (land) in the City of Pitt Meadows for at least 30 days immediately before you register to vote (for non-resident property electors).
  5. You must not have been disqualified by law from voting.

HOW DO YOU REGISTER TO VOTE?

You must register on the City of Pitt Meadows List of Electors, either in advance (until September 27, 2011) or at the time of voting.  Registration forms are available by clicking here [PDF - 83 KB] or at City Hall front reception.  For Non-Resident Property Electors, click here [PDF - 17 KB]

Please note that you will be required to bring your completed form to the advance polling station (City Hall Meadows Room) on Nov. 9 & 10 or on general voting day (Nov 19, 2011 at Heritage Hall or Family Rec Centre), along with two (2) pieces of valid identification in order to vote if you are not currently on the Voter's List.  All Polling Stations are open from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on the dates indicated.

For Non-Resident Property Electors [PDF - 17 KB], if there is more than one person who is the registered owner only one of those individuals may register as a Non-Resident Property Elector and they must have consent [PDF - 13 KB] from the other(s).
