PITT MEADOWS FIRE DEPT. AWARDS BANQUET

PITT MEADOWS, BC: The Pitt Meadows Fire Dept. Awards Banquet was held on March 3, 2007 at the Pitt Meadows Golf Club. The banquet is sponsored by City Council to recognize past and present fire department members for their service and accomplishments in 2006.

The highlights of the evening were the presentation of the Fire Services Exemplary Service Medal from the Governor – General of Canada to Capt. Dave Saddler for twenty years of service and the presentation of the British Columbian Long Service Medal from the Office of the BC Fire Commissioner to Fire Chief Bill Park for twenty-five years of service. These two medals were presented by Mayor Don MacLean.

The Annual Department Awards were presented to this year's recipients:

Firefighter of the Year Stephen Bertoia
Officer of the Year Dennis Barron
Special Recognition Award Sean Roche

Also receiving awards for high attendance at emergency calls and practices was Sean de Jersey, Scott Kyle, Stephan Drolet, Al McGee, Jack Dougan, Bill Mitchell, Dave Saddler, Torin Lofthaug, Mia Kivari and James Good.

Members receiving the Department Long Service Pins included:

Sean de Jersey 5 years
Jay Ruzycki 5 years
Peter Hamming 10 years
Dave Saddler 20 years
Bill Park 25 years

A retirement gift was given to former Asst. Chief Don Jolley who is currently the Deputy Fire Chief of Langley City.
