Kate Zanon photo.JPG     PITT MEADOWS, BC: After an extensive national search, the City of Pitt Meadows is pleased to announce the appointment of Kate Zanon to oversee the City's Economic Development function.

Kate was born and raised in North Vancouver and completed her undergraduate degree in Agricultural Sciences at the University of British Columbia.   Following her degree she moved to Arizona where she completed a Masters Degree in Urban and Environmental Planning and worked for the City of Scottsdale in its Neighbourhood Development department. In 2004 Kate moved to Fountain Hills, Arizona as a Planner. The Town of Fountain Hills has similar attributes to Pitt Meadows including its size, reputation as a destination golf area and proximity to a larger centre ( Phoenix is 25 miles away).   She held a variety of roles of increasing management responsibility including Deputy Town Manager overseeing community and economic development.

Working closely with City Council, Kate will direct the new city of Pitt Meadows Economic Development Corporation leading the City's business and investment initiatives including business recruitment, retention and other economic development strategies.   Mayor MacLean was pleased to see a candidate with Kate's credentials take the helm “With the opening of the Golden Ears and Pitt River bridges this community is set to launch as the central gateway to the Fraser Valley.   We need to ensure that growth and promotion are strategic in nature and that the businesses we do attract are the ones that are economic and job creation drivers.” In addition to her career, Kate enjoys the outdoors and finds time to volunteer with numerous community organizations and looks forward to taking an active role within Pitt Meadows.   Kate officially begins her new role August 24, 2009.
