IN EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS

For Immediate Release

September 26, 2011 – Two BC communities were recognized today at the annual Canadian

Association of Fire Chiefs' Conference in Calgary for the development of a unique joint

Fire Chiefs' Don Jolley of Pitt Meadows and Peter Grootendorst of Maple Ridge were on hand

for the presentation of the 2011 Canadian Association of Chiefs' of Police (CACP)/Motorola®

Fire Chief's Association of BC (FCABC) President Len Garis offered his congratulations to the

communities. “This is just another example of the leadership that the fire service brings to public

safety and emergency management not only in BC but across Canada.”

The CACP/Motorola® Excellence in Emergency Preparedness Award was launched in 2009 and
