Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows, BC:

Volunteers wanting to get involved in the arts now have a new tool for finding out what opportunities are available. By visiting individuals can see what volunteer opportunities exist in their home town. The website is driven by Volunteer2 software, developed in Canada, and allows volunteers to apply to volunteer, sign up for volunteer shifts, and record their hours from home or work. As a result, volunteers will have easier access to information about opportunities and, staff in the organizations engaging volunteers will find it easier to keep in touch with the growing number of volunteers.

The Maple Ridge Arts Centre and Theatre (ACT) is an enthusiastic user of the software. “We highly recommend that other organizations take advantage of the benefits in recruitment, efficiency and communication with volunteers that this system provides” says Lindy Sisson - Executive Director of The ACT and Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Arts Council.

Maple Ridge resident Victor Kennedy who volunteers at the ACT has already enjoyed the benefits of the service. “Everything can be done from the comfort of home. The software is easy to use and training is available if needed. I like the fact I can open up the schedule and see which shows I have signed up for, and confirmed that I have been assigned.” In addition to the ACT, volunteer programs in Maple Ridge such as Emergency Social Services, Festivals, Crime Prevention, Aquatics, Youth Services, and Sports and Fitness now have current opportunities listed on Volunteer2.

If you are interested in volunteer opportunities with any of the programs mentioned, visit and search for your community. For other volunteer opportunities in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows, visit Volunteer Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows at
