The warm summer weather attracts people outside to enjoy many outdoor activities such as barbecuing and camp fires. However, before doing so, residents should be aware of their local burning regulations.
The Burning Regulation Bylaw No. 2406 has been in place since May of 2009. Section 5 of the Bylaw outlines general regulations concerning cooking fires. Under the Bylaw, cooking fires must be contained within a barbecue or fire pit having a surface area not greater than one (1) meter in diameter and using natural gas/propane or charcoal briquettes or within a manufactured gas/propane, electric/charcoal barbecue.
The burning of wood in backyard fire pits or wood burning cooking pits is not permitted at any time, anywhere in the City of Pitt Meadows.
This Bylaw will be strictly enforced, and may result in fines being imposed on those who choose to violate the provisions of this Bylaw. For a complete copy of Bylaw No. 2406, please visit www.pittmeadowsfire.com.
