Pitt Meadows, BC - The City of Pitt Meadows is looking to recognize residents, community groups, school classrooms and businesses in Pitt Meadows for the third annual Going Green Awards.

The “Going Green Awards” recognizes efforts by organizations and groups in the community who are working towards sustainability. Award categories include innovation, integrated green solutions, and awareness and advocacy.

New this year is the addition of individuals, community groups and school classrooms to the Going Green Awards. One school classroom award will be given to each participating school in Pitt Meadows.

“Previously we were recognizing our business community for what they were doing to go green,” said Kate Zanon, director of corporate and business services at the City.

“But we know there are many others in Pitt Meadows that are doing great things too, so we wanted to recognize their part in building a sustainable community.”

Prizes include a “Green Star” Ranking Award, a press release from the City about the residents, community groups, school classroom and businesses and how they achieved their Green Star Ranking, a featured article in the City's City Talks newsletter and publication of the award winners on the City of Pitt Meadows website. Winners will be invited to showcase their green solution at the Pitt Meadows Earth Day celebration on April 22.
