CITY CELEBRATES EIGHTH ANNUAL CHRISTMAS EVENT
PITT MEADOWS, BC – The City of Pitt Meadows and the Pitt Meadows Community Foundation host the eighth annual Christmas event, A Pitt Meadows Christmas, this Friday, Dec 2 from 6 to 8pm at Spirit Square. The event has become a tradition in the community with the lighting of the city Christmas tree, a spectacular ice sculpture display, and the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus to kick off the holiday season.
“This year’s event includes all the fun that citizens have come to love about A Pitt Meadows Christmas,” said City special events coordinator, Terra Dickinson.
“From the big countdown to light up the big tree in Spirit Square and visiting Santa, to crafts and activities and holiday refreshments, there’s lots of fun for families to come and enjoy, as well as a few new surprises.”
The event will include live entertainment as well as a Christmas tree decorating contest where citizens can vote for their favourite tree. Information will also be available at the event about a Christmas lights contest, where residents can enter their home to be part of a tour of homes decorated for the holidays, with a winner announced in January.
“This is the City’s first celebration under the independent Parks & Recreation department, so we’re excited to see everything coming together with the hard work of our staff,” said City Chief Administrative Officer, Mark Roberts.
The City is planning a review of special events and will be seeking public input on events. A survey will be available at A Pitt Meadows Christmas and online at pittmeadows.bc.ca, and residents are encouraged to participate.
