CITY OF PITT MEADOWS HIRES NEW DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS AND DEVELOPMENT SERVICES

PITT MEADOWS, BC: Following the appointment of Kim Grout to the position of Chief Administrative Officer, the City has now hired Cory Day to assume the role of Director of the Operations and Development Services.
Cory has over twenty years experience working in municipal government both in Saskatchewan and the Lower Mainland, most recently with the City of Kamloops as their Traffic and Transportation engineer. Having graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in Civil engineering in 1994, Cory brings a fresh and systematic approach to the City's largest department. His technical skill set and direct experience with MetroVancouver, Translink and the Ministry of Transportation support Council's goals of improving transportation and infrastructure.

“I believe one of Pitt Meadows's strengths has been involving stakeholders and citizens directly in helping to plan, build, and deliver projects,” says Day. “I'm committing to continue fostering that strong level of public and staff engagement.”

Commenting on the appointment, Chief Administrative Officer Kim Grout noted, “Cory's enthusiasm and engineering background will be helpful as we move forward with our long term capital and other transportation and infrastructure issues. We are a smaller municipality facing all the challenges of the larger cities but with limited resources. Being able to wear various hats and bringing an engineering lens to the discussion will be helpful.” Cory officially assumed his new role July 2, 2014.

Cory is an active outdoorsman looking forward to chances to trade his tie for a bike helmet to explore the natural beauty that Pitt Meadows has to offer.
