OF PITT MEADOWS HIRES NEW DIRECTOR OF FINANCIAL SERVICES
PITT MEADOWS, BC: With the departure of former Finance and Facilities Director, Dean Rear to Metro Vancouver as their Treasury Comptroller, the City is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Roberts to the City's chief financial position.
Mark assumed the role of Director of Financial Services on August 19. He has twenty-four years of accounting experience, fourteen of which while working as the Manager of Financial Services for the City of Port Moody. In his role with Port Moody, Mark's portfolio included accounting, financial reporting, taxation and revenue, budgeting, and purchasing. Mark was also called upon to provide high level strategic analysis and advice to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Executive Leadership Team and Council on finance related matters.
Chief Administrative Officer, Jake Rudolph commenting on the appointment noted “Mark's combination of creative problem solving skills, strong financial background and exposure to municipal service assessments will be helpful as we move forward with our long term capital and other fiscal challenges. There is no doubt that municipalities need to look at how to be effective and Mark brings a breadth of experience and fresh eyes to our financial statements and our systems. We are a smaller municipality facing all the challenges of the larger cities but with limited resources.”
In his spare time Mark coaches youth soccer for both his son and daughter's teams. He is also actively involved as a volunteer with the Village of Anmore where he has served for almost six years on both the Finance Committee and the Planning Commission.
