City works with community to develop civic engagement policy

PITT MEADOWS, BC: The City of Pitt Meadows has launched the community input part of their Civic Engagement Policy project this week. An online survey and in-person outreach at the Pitt Meadows Family Rec Centre last week gathered input from residents on civic engagement priorities, and staff will be at the Pitt Meadows Athletic Park on Saturday from 9am to 11am.

The City’s Civic Engagement Policy project is drawing on best practices and local input to guide how the City develops, implements and evaluates its engagement and public participation activities. Working with local community engagement firm MODUS, City staff have been seeking feedback from residents, businesses, community groups, committees, staff, and City Council to assist with the development of the policy and framework.

“This has been a priority for Council, and feedback from Pitt Meadows residents is a key part of building the framework for the City’s engagement policy,” said CAO Mark Roberts.

The Civic Engagement Policy is the first step in achieving the City’s objectives of engaging citizens and allowing for better informed decision making and partnership with the public on issues in the city.

“This project differs from engagement that Pitt Meadows has done in the past; we are reaching out to the Pitt Meadows community to ask how they want to be engaged. The feedback that we receive will help us to improve how the City engages with the community,” said Carolyn Baldridge, Manager of Communications and Community Engagement.

More information on how to get involved, including the online survey, is available at The survey will be open until November 13.
