PITT AWARDS PARKS & RECREATION CONSULTANT CONTRACT
Pitt Meadows, BC – The City took the first critical step toward building a parks & recreation function Tuesday night when Council directed Acting CAO Mark Roberts to award the parks & recreation consultant contract to KDH Management Consultants.
“The consultant’s recommendations on the transition plan are the critical first step. It will help us set the course for the next few months,” said Mayor John Becker.
The consultant will be reviewing the City’s parks & recreation needs over the next several weeks and will submit a report with recommendations on a parks & recreation model by the end of March. Once the consultant’s recommendations are received and Council decides on the direction, the City will be putting plans into place to build the services for the City’s parks and recreation department.
“This will be a great opportunity to develop a department that will suit the goals of Council and the needs of the community,” said Acting CAO Mark Roberts.
“As part of this process, there will be opportunities for public input, so we can offer programs and services that residents want in Pitt Meadows.”
A recent staff report to Council identified key areas that will require planning for the upcoming process, including administration; staffing; strategic partnerships; facility bookings; recreation programming; financials; recreation engagement and promotions; inventory management; facilities; and parks operations, planning and development. The report is available on their website at pittmeadows.bc.ca.
