Councillor Gwen O'Connell

Gwen O'Connell is no stranger to municipal politics, having served as a Pitt Meadows Councillor for a total of 15 years. She was first elected in 1993 and served until 2005 when she took a three-year break, and was again elected in 2008. She and her husband Paul moved to Pitt Meadows

35 years ago, raised their two children here, and continue to enjoy

spending time with their five grandchildren in the community.

Gwen is passionate about supporting seniors, and works at a

seniors' residence, where she considers herself to be very lucky to

have a job she loves to go to each day.

From serving hot dogs at events in Harris Road Park

to taking on major planning and infrastructure projects, Gwen has

always been an active participant within the community. Her philosophy

is that if you receive, you should give back, and she enjoys giving back

through her volunteer work with Parks and Leisure Services and the Pitt Meadows Heritage and

Museum Society.

Gwen believes a balanced community can be achieved by allowing for mixed use in key areas, and she is committed to continuing to make Pitt Meadows a liveable community that gives people opportunities to live, work and play right here at home.
