Mayor Don MacLean

A long time student of politics, Don first ran, and was elected to Pitt Meadows Council in 1990. After three terms as Councillor Don successfully ran for Mayor of Pitt Meadows in December of 1999. Don was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1948 and after a brief stay in Prince Edward Island moved to Toronto in 1954. In 1971 he was transferred to Vancouver as Regional Sales Manager for a large office supplies manufacturer. In 1977 Don entered the general insurance field and owns and operates Sharpe's Insurance Agency in Pitt Meadows.

In his leisure time Don enjoys watching vintage movies, hiking and listening to classical music.

Since joining Pitt Meadows Council, Don has served on many boards and committees including Ridge Meadows Parks & Leisure Services Commission, the Greater Vancouver Transportation Authority and Metro Vancouver (formerly the Greater Vancouver Regional District).
