Councillor Doug Bing

Doug Bing was first elected in 2005 and re-elected to Council in 2008 and 2011. He and his wife, Dr. Helen Henderson, have lived and worked in this community for over 32 years,

and together they established Pitt Meadows' first dental

practice in 1980. Doug enjoys the challenge of

juggling a busy personal and professional life with duties on

City Council. Two of his favourite sayings are "it is better

to wear out than to rust out" and "if you aren't moving forward,

you are moving backward."

Doug's interest in local government originated at UBC

when he took an undergraduate course in urban planning

and this led him to serve twice on committees reviewing our

city's Official Community Plan in 1997-1999 and 2005, which

was the spark that eventually prompted him to run for Council in 2005.

Doug wants to ensure that Pitt Meadows continues to move forward and is passionate about making Pitt Meadows a better place to live and work. He wants to build a balanced community, one that improves the quality of life for all citizens yet preserves the community's friendly, small-town feeling and natural environment.
