Councillor Bill Dingwall
Bill and his wife Erna first arrived in Pitt Meadows in 1984 and other than five years in Ottawa, they have always lived in the community. They have two children and four grandchildren and are thrilled their families live in Pitt Meadows.
Bill has a Bachelor's degree from Simon Fraser University, a Law Degree (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Ottawa and is a Certified Human Resource Practitioner (CHRP).
Bill has enjoyed extensive careers in the public service having served with the BC Sheriffs as a Superintendent and in the RCMP for 35 years in BC and Ottawa, with the last nine years at the Executive Level in BC as a Chief Superintendent. He was the Officer-in-charge of Human Resources for the RCMP in BC for approximately 9,500 employees, and from 1998-2002 he was the Chief of Police for Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.
Bill has been actively involved in a variety of volunteer and charitable activities over the years, including Cops for Cancer, the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, mission relief renovation work for victims of Hurricane Katrina in Alabama, and participating in the walk for Crossroads Hospice Society. He was also referee-in-chief for Ridge Meadows Hockey Association, refereed hockey, was a member of Rotary and coached hockey and competitive fastball.
His hobbies include “the kids and grandkids”, gardening, camping, golf, carpentry/renovations and restoring a 1970 Challenger originally owned in high school.
