Mayor John Becker
John Becker was first elected to Pitt Meadows Council in November of 2002. After a 3 year absence in 2011, he returned as Mayor in 2014.
John has been a resident of this region for 35 years. He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and moved to West Vancouver in 1967. He attended UBC and received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1977 and a Law Degree in 1980. After articling at a law firm in Maple Ridge, he launched his own practice in 1981, later relocating his law practice to Pitt Meadows in 1993.
John has also completed the Local Government Leadership program at Royal Roads University, a Family Enterprise Advising accreditation from UBC Sauder School of Business, and is completing his MBA from SFU Beedie School of Business. He is also a Certified Mediator and Facilitator.
John has been very active in his community including volunteering his time for the Parks & Leisure Services Commission, the Alcohol and Drug Treatment Center, the Pitt Meadows Community Foundation, the Economic Development Advisory Commission, and the Agricultural Advisory Board to name a few.
John is married to Terry and they have two adult children who are both pursuing post-secondary education. Terry is also an active community volunteer in her own right.
When John and Terry find spare time, they train for the Ride to Conquer Cancer, golf, and enjoy their other volunteer activities. Both consider themselves life long learners.
John is looking forward to serving his first four year term as Mayor.
