Council Roles & Responsibilities
The council is our governing body of the municipal corporation. A councillor's job is to work with other council members to set the overall direction of the municipality through their role as a policy maker. The policies that council sets are the guidelines for administration to execute the municipal strategy. Council spends a significant amount of time creating new policies and ensuring the existing ones are working as planned.
City Departmental Responsibilities
CAO - Mark Roberts
Pitt Meadows City Council delivers a vision and strategic plan for the City. It’s the responsibility of the Chief Administrative Officer to ensure City staff is aligned with the plan and moving toward this vision.
Director of Finance - Cheryl Harding
As Director of Finance, Cheryl is responsible for providing support for day to day operations of the City through the provisioning of accounting, banking and investments, budget & business planning, debt management, long-term financial planning, and tax collection services.
Director of Engineering & Operations - Forrest Smith
Forrest is responsible for the engineering design, planning, construction and maintenance of the City's infrastructure. He also spearheads the environmental protection & stewardship programs as well as ensuring alignment with Metro Vancouver when it comes to providing quality drinking water, sewage treatment, solid waste collection, and drainage.
Director of Community & Cultural Services - Kate Zanon
Kate is responsible for the planning & coordination of resources in the maintenance and development of parks, facilities, and delivery of the city’s recreation and cultural programs. In addition to providing opportunities for our residents to engage, participate and connect, Kate leads the team in planning and development strategies in order to meet the needs of our city’s growing population.
Director of Corporate Services - Stephanie St. Jean
Stephanie leads and manages the City of Pitt Meadow’s HR, IT, and Communications departments ensuring they are all running as efficiently and effectively as possible. She works to develop, implement, and execute objectives, policies, and procedures aligned with Council strategy for all three divisions.

The Official Community Plan is a long range (20 year) guide for the municipality that helps Council in making decisions on matters such as land use and growth, transportation, agricultural preservation, economic development, and housing.
