Artist Statement

“My fascination with patterns and colour draws me into the profusion of scrub and thicket, and before I know it, I am hooked on taking a reference photo or painting en plein air! The jungle of entangled undergrowth is so alive with each shrub, leaf and branch reaching for light! It’s busy, chaotic, and exciting! I love the frosty tips of grasses and bare branches in winter, the bright green pop-up foliage in spring and finally, nature settling down, with its last hurrah of colour, in the fall!  Some of my watercolours are painted on location while others are from reference photos of areas with which I have a relationship.”
