The City of Pitt Meadows is responsible for emergency management in the event of an emergency. 

The City has received finanical assistance with the emergency program from the JEPP Grant application process.  This has helped to fund items for the Emergency Operations Centre which would be the main location for residents to visit for help and information in the case of an emergency.

The Great British Columbia Shake Out

On January 26^th, 2011 the province of BC will take part in a provincial wide initiative event that is tailored to explore the safety concerns and procedures of a catastrophic earthquake scenario.  Organized by the Provincial Emergency Program for British Columbia and the British Columbia Earthquake Alliance, this event is a copy of the California Shake Out event that has been an annual exercise since 2008.  It is hoped that residents will be become better prepared for a serious event.  Participants will be asked to partake in a "drop, cover and hold on" to learn and practice how to protect yourself during an earthquake.
