Policing - Ridge Meadows RCMP

The Ridge Meadows RCMP provide law enforcement for the communities of Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge. The detachment is dedicated to the principle of community policing and working with the public to provide long term solutions to identify problems. They achieve this by focusing on prevention and detection of crime, community involved problem solving, the prosecution of criminals, as well as responding to crimnial activity and traffic safety. The most effective tools for community policing include positive community relations, a professional police image, the ability to respond to the needs of the community and public education.

What is Community Based Policing?

Community-based policing is a partnership between the police and the community in sharing the delivery of police services. Ridge Meadows detachment is in a process of transition from reactive traditional policing to proactive community based policing. It involves the strategy of problem oriented policing ("POPS") and employs various tactics, depending on the problem being addressed.
