Roundabout Driving Tips

Driving in Roundabouts

Pitt Meadows has implemented roundabouts to increase safety and reduce crashes in certain intersections.  Improving the overall flow of traffic in the area, roundabouts force drivers to slow down until making their turn, eliminating stop / idle time.  While reducing greenhouse gas emissions, the benefits of increased safety towards pedestrians and cyclists, makes the roundabout a sensible traffic solution.

Here are a few tips on safe driving in roundabouts:

  • Check for pedestrians before entering a roundabout
  • Check to your left for oncoming vehicles
  • Yield to traffic already in the roundabout
  • Always signal before leaving the roundabout at your exit
