Public Participation

Why do we need public participation?

Good decision-making is critical to the future of our community. Inviting the public to participate and provide feedback on issues and problems in Pitt Meadows allows for a variety of perspectives that can help us create creative solutions. Working together, we can build stronger relationships between the City and citizens to ensure Pitt Meadows is headed in the right direction and retains the characteristics we love about the community.

In 2017, the City worked with Modus Consulting to create a Civic Engagement Framework and Toolkit to guide public participation and decision-making in the community. The Framework is based on standard engagement principles developed by the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2). How can you get involved?

The City uses different ways of gathering input from residents. Look for opportunities such as:

  • Open houses
  • Surveys
  • Focus groups
  • Public feedback meetings and activities
  • Steering committees and advisory committees

You can also appear at a Council meeting as a delegate
