Let's Talk! What You Need to Know About Running for Office in the City of Pitt Meadows

July 9, 2018

Are you considering running for office in the City of Pitt Meadows?

The next municipal election is October 20, 2018.  It is important that all candidates have the information necessary to run a campaign that complies with provincial and municipal guidelines.  Provincial legislation and municipal policies guide the administration of elections and govern the responsibilities of candidates.  While some local governments are hosting group candidate meetings, the City of Pitt Meadows’ Chief Election Officer will meet with potential candidates individually to provide an opportunity to voice specific questions or concerns in a personal and candid setting.

All candidates must file nomination papers by 4:00 p.m. on September 14.  To ensure that all documents are correct prior to the deadline, the City recommends that interested candidates submit their papers well in advance of the deadline.  After the deadline, the City will host a meeting for all declared candidates to provide specific, logistical details to candidates regarding campaigning, election night, and post-election responsibilities.  Nomination packages will be available for pick up at City Hall (12007 Harris Road, Pitt Meadows) or as a download from our Candidate Information page as of Friday, July 27, 2018.
