Old garbage can pickup & recycling Nov 28 & 29
Wondering what to do with your old can now that the new can has arrived?
If you’re not interested in re-using your old garbage can to organize household items (ie: hockey sticks or yard tools), Waste Management will collect old garbage cans for recycling:
Monday, November 28 and Tuesday, November 29
Old cans must be emptied and placed upside down at the curb by 7:30am
View the cart collection map to determine your can collection date. Please note: there will be no repeat pickups if residents miss their pickup date.
All garbage cans must be clean and empty and CANNOT have any contaminants in order to be recycled.
A few reminders regarding your new garbage carts
- Place containers at the curb by 7:30 a.m. on collection day
- Place containers with wheels closest to the curb with lids opening toward the street, so when lifted and tilted forward into the truck, the lid will fall open and the contents will empty into the truck
- Place containers at least three (3) feet from obstructions such as cars, trees, fences, mailboxes
WM trucks require clear access in order to empty containers.
Garbage is collected bi-weekly on your service day. Food and Yard Waste is collected weekly on your service day.
Residents with extra garbage must continue to purchase an extra bag tag, and extra bags should be left next to the new container, and not placed in another container.
The carts provided for garbage and food/yard waste is the property of the City of Pitt Meadows. In the event you move, please leave behind the carts for the next owner.
